Meet Our New Addition, Logic Pro X

The Technology Design Studio has a number of programs for our visual creatives, including the Adobe Master Collection and Final Cut. And now we have added an application that is sure to excite the aspiring audio enthusiast. Please welcome

Logic Pro X to the TDS area. (insert applause) Logic Pro X 10.0.6

For more information on what is offered in version ten, continue reading below.

What is Logic?:

Digital audio workstation (DAW) and Musical Instrument Digital Interface MIDI sequencer software application for the Mac OS X platform. With the use of an extensive library and plug-ins for live instruments, Logic Pro X allows students to create, edit and mix audio.

Below are a few features recently added to Logic Pro X:

Alchemy:

The alchemy is a powerful sample-manipulation synthesizer. Quickly find and shape sounds from the massive Alchemy library or create your own with a choice of synthesis engines and advanced morphing tools. Produce inspiring sounds with analog-modeled filters, multiple modulation sources, an integrated arpeggiator, and a broad range of effects.

Logic Remote

After downloading the free app, control Logic Pro X from any corner of your studio using your iPad. Play software instruments or adjust levels from inside your recording booth. Logic Remote makes it easy to shape your sound, quickly find instruments and their Smart Controls, or select from the Sound Library and start recording when and where it feels right.

And we can’t go without mentioning our favorite feature:

Pitch Correction:

Say you record a vocal performance that’s less than ideal. Flex Pitch lets you edit the pitch and level of individual notes quickly and easily. Simply roll over any note and all parameters are immediately available for tweaking. Use contextual controls to fine-tune or shape notes and adjust the gain. Smooth out, increase, or pull back vibrato.

Who uses Logic Pro?:

Logic Pro is for anyone who desires to create professional audio. This commonly includes producers and sound designers, composers and the like.

Where is it available in the Woodruff Library?:

The Logic application is available in the Technology Design Studio’s  A/V editing rooms 205 and 206 for patrons who have booked the room in advance online (subject to approval), or at a staffed service point.

REMINDER: External hard drives should be used when working in the TDS area; computers are wiped on a regular basis.
